Welcome to Mrs. Crinion's Junior Infants
Junior Infants have been learning all about Autumn. We have explored the changes in nature during the Autumn season. We have discovered that the leaves change colour, many animals are preparing for hibernation and the farmers are busy harvesting in the fields. The children had great fun cooking apple tarts in the Home Corner, playing farm in the Small World Area and making scarecrows with play dough. The class have also been busy creating some beautiful Autumn art such as a dingle dangle scarecrow, a squirrel with a leafy tail and an Autumn tree using finger painting.
We have been making new friends and playing together. We are very good at sharing and taking turns. By cutting with scissors, sticking and using play dough, we are developing our fine motor skills and strengthening our hands for writing. We are really enjoying the Play Dough Disco if you want to take a look on YouTube.
Our numeracy lessons have focused on learning all about colours, sorting objects based on colour and object, matching items that are the same or different, counting forwards and backwards and learning counting songs. We have also been chanting and singing the days of the week. It is important to associate a day with a particular activity and identify school days and weekend days!
